  • How many LStream cards can I add to each LynxTWO/L22 or AES16 card?
  • Since the LS-ADAT provides 16 channels of I/O, and the Lynx Mixer has 16-channels, what happens to the other I/O when I’m using the LS-ADAT card?
  • How can I access LS-ADAT outputs with a LynxTWO or L22?
  • How can I access LS-AES outputs with a LynxTWO or L22?
  • How can I access LS-ADAT outputs with an AES16?
  • How can I access LS-ADAT inputs with a LynxTWO or L22?
  • How can I access LS-AES inputs with a LynxTWO or L22?
  • How can I access LS-ADAT inputs with an AES16?
  • How do I record 96Khz through the inputs of the LS-ADAT?
  • How do I install a second LS-AES card for the LynxTWO/L22?
  • Can I record or play 192kHz audio with the LS-AES?
  • How do I use ADAT sync as a clock source with the LS-ADAT card?
  • My LS-AES is supposed to be an 8-in/8-out card, but I only see 4 male and 4 female XLR connections. What gives?

How can I access LS-ADAT outputs with an AES16?
All OS

For the AES16, all 16 Lynx Mixer output channels already route to physical outputs on-board, so the LS-ADAT outputs will run in conjunction with the AES/EBU outputs on the AES16. The default routing is for LS-ADAT Out 1 to come from Lynx Mixer output channels 9 through 16, which in turn come from Play devices 5 through 8. The default routing for LS-ADAT Out 2 comes from Lynx Mixer output channels 1 through 8, which in turn come from Play devices 1 through 4. For example, if audio is sent to Play 5 from an audio application, this signal will be routed to the LS-ADAT Out 1 Channels 1 and 2, as well as AES16 Digital Out 5 Left & Right. Audio sent to Play 1 from an audio application will be routed to the LS-ADAT Out 2 Channels 1 and 2, as well as AES16 Digital Out 1 Left & Right.

This orientation can be altered so that audio sent to ADAT Out 1 is sent from Lynx Mixer outputs 1 through 8 (Play devices 1 through 4), and ADAT Out 2 from Lynx Mixer outputs 9 through 16 (Play devices 5 through 8), by choosing “1-8/9-16” from the Output Select section of the LStream window in the Lynx Mixer. The default setting is “9-16/1-8”.

The graphic above shows the default routing of LS-ADAT channels to Lynx Mixer output channels with the “Output Select” switch set to “9-16/1-8”.

The graphic above shows the alternate routing of LS-ADAT channels to Lynx Mixer output channels with the “Output Select” switch set to “1-8/9-16”.

With 16-channels of LStream I/O, many users find it less confusing if the Lynx driver devices and mixer channels have a more direct relationship to the LStream I/O. A direct one-to-one relationship is established by using the “1-8/9-16” output mode. In this mode, the numbering of the output channels of the AES16 Mixer corresponds more directly to the LS-ADAT channel numbering. For instance, mixer output channels 1-8 are mapped to LS-ADAT Out 1, 1-8 AND mixer output channels 9-16 are mapped to LS-ADAT Out 2, 1-8.
