  • How many LStream cards can I add to each LynxTWO/L22 or AES16 card?
  • Since the LS-ADAT provides 16 channels of I/O, and the Lynx Mixer has 16-channels, what happens to the other I/O when I’m using the LS-ADAT card?

All OS

Since the Lynx driver supports a maximum of 16 record and 16 play channels per card, it is important to understand the relationship between the LStream I/O and the on-board I/O from the Lynx host card.

The physical outputs provided by the LynxTWO or L22 card (analog or digital I/O) will operate in parallel with up to eight LS-ADAT outputs (determined by the number of outputs on the LynxTWO/L22), so that audio plays simultaneously out of both the onboard outputs and LS-ADAT outputs. With LynxTWO and L22 cards, at least 8 Lynx Mixer output channels are not assigned to any on-board outputs, so signals routed to these mixer outputs will only be sent to LS-ADAT destinations. With the AES16, all possible output channels are routed to on-board outputs, so these will always operate in parallel with LS-ADAT I/O.

For input signals, parallel sources are not possible. With the LynxTWO/L22 at least 8 input channels are not assigned to onboard inputs. These mixer channels and corresponding record devices will be assigned to ADAT In 1 as a default. The inputs from ADAT In 2 will need to be manually assigned from within the Lynx Record/Play Mixer. With an AES16 card, all 16 mixer input channels are assigned to AES/EBU inputs, so LS-ADAT inputs will need to be manually configured in the Lynx Record/Play Mixer to be used with an AES16.
