Lynx Announces Alternate Trim Settings for Aurora Converters

COSTA MESA, CA - May 5, 2006 - Lynx Studio Technology today announced that the highly successful Aurora 16 and Aurora 8 AD/DA converters will now also be available with alternate trim settings. The Aurora 16/1824 and Aurora 8/1824 models will feature +18 dBu and +24 dBu full-scale trim settings, replacing the +6 dBV/+20 dBu full-scale settings of the standard models.

“Several mastering facilities and international distributors have requested this modification. Some end-users, who were impressed with Aurora’s sound, specs and feature set, had the need for an alternate level option,” explained Phil Moon, Lynx VP Sales and Marketing.

Lynx co-founder Bob Bauman engineered the 1824 trim option. Samples were sent to Audio Intervisual Design in Los Angeles and HHB in the UK. Los Angeles-based Audio Intervisual Design’s Aurora 8/1824, intended as a sample only, became a sale when a major Los Angeles producer bought the demo model for post-production for an upcoming movie. Ray Staff at Alchemy tested and purchased two of the Aurora 8/1824 converters from HHB in London and is now using them for 5.1 mastering.

“The Auroras are central to my vinyl set-up here because we rely on good twin D/As to feed our Neumann lathes. Our vinyl clients are principally audiophile record labels who set extremely demanding standards of quality, so for this kind of work the Lynx converters have become absolutely indispensable,” stated Staff. “Up against the more established big-name brands, the Lynx converters stood out for their absolute clarity, smoothness and ease of use - and whereas many converters really suffer in their low-end response, the Auroras have a real definition and tightness that we immediately loved.”

The sixteen-channel Aurora 16/1824 has a US suggested retail price of $3495. The eight-channel Aurora 8/1824 has a US suggested retail price of $2320. Both models are now available.
