LT-MADI Interface for Aurora Converters Allows up to 64 Channels on a Single MADI Cable

Up to four Lynx Aurora converters may be controlled at once

OCTOBER 1, 2009 - The 2009 New York AES Show was the debut of the Lynx LT-MADI. L-Slot interface for the Lynx Aurora 8 and Aurora 16 A/D D/A converters. An Aurora converter fitted with the LT-MADI provides digital input and output in MADI (Multichannel Audio Digital Interface) format. Up to four Aurora converters (using four LT-MADI cards) can be combined for up to 64 channels of input and output on a single MADI link. MADI is a proven technology for distributing multichannel audio in large venues, live recording and multiroom studios with the convenience of either optical fiber or coaxial cabling.

“Since the Aurora converters were introduced five years ago, our customers have been asking for a MADI interface. MADI is a long-accepted multichannel standard and the LT-MADI allows Aurora converters to be added to many new and existing live sound, studio and permanent installation projects,” stated Bob Bauman, Lynx co-founder and chief hardware engineer. “The LT-MADI allows daisy-chaining of up to four Aurora converters on a single MADI link, for 64 channels of Aurora-quality conversion.”

The LT-MADI includes both optical and coaxial I/O ports. Coaxial cable lengths up to 100 meters are supported and optical connections can span up to 2000 meters. LT-MADI provides simultaneous input and output on up to 64 channels at 44.1 / 48 kHz; 32 channels at 88.2 / 96 kHz; 16 channels at 176.4 / 192 kHz.

Lynx proprietary SynchroLock™ technology virtually eliminates jitter when Aurora is a clock slave or used to provide stable, low jitter clock to downstream devices. The LT-MADI is easily installed into Aurora 8 and Aurora 16 converter. It is controlled from the front panel of the Aurora converter or by Aurora remote control software via MIDI. Fully RoHS compliant, the LT-MADI and all Lynx interface products are manufactured in the USA by Lynx Studio Technology, Inc.

The LT-MADI is available now with a US Suggested Retail Price $895.
