Lynx Studio Technology Inc. Shows Support for AES50 and HyperMac Networking

Digital Protocol developed by Sony Oxford to be available on Lynx AES16e PCI Express Interface

NEW YORK, NY – OCTOBER 5, 2007 Lynx Studio Technology’s eagerly awaited AES16e PCI Express digital audio interface will be the first computer interface to integrate the new AES50 standard. The AES16e-50 model will offer 16 channels of 192 kHz AES/EBU input and output in addition to up to 48 channels of digital I/O via AES50. AES50 provides a bi-directional, point-to-point connection for multi-channel audio and system control over a single Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable. The benefits include reliable high-bandwidth data transfers, low latency, and low clock jitter. Complete networks can be built using routers with multiple AES50 ports.

“We became aware of AES50 and HyperMac a few years ago as we began development of the AES16e. The ability to offer the capabilities of our industry standard AES16 card on a PCI Express interface, while adding 48 channels of I/O and control on a single cable, makes the AES16e very innovative and powerful,” stated Bob Bauman, chief hardware engineer and Lynx co-founder.

“We are very pleased that innovative and respected companies such as Lynx are seeing the future potential of these powerful standards,” stated John Oakley. “We are planning several product introductions for AES50 implementation for the (DELETED)and (DELETED)brands, including the DN9696 96 track/96 kHz live performance audio recorder previewed at the 2007 PLASA Show in London.”

Oakley continued, “SuperMAC and HyperMAC are far and away the best networking technologies for live performance use. They are totally deterministic with very low latency over multiple network segments and offer very high reliability and redundancy. The simultaneous low latency and high channel capacity coupled with the ability to carry standard TCP/IP messages cannot be matched by any other technology.”

The AES16e brings the power and versatility of the Lynx AES16 to the PCI Express platform. With 16 channels of 192 kHz AES/EBU input and outputs, the AES16e is the perfect interface for stable, high channel count I/O on Windows and Mac computers utilizing the PCI Express format. The AES16e will be available in a standard model, the AES16e-SRC with sixteen channels of sample rate conversion, and a third model featuring AES50 in 2008.
