I'm going to have to mount a half rack MIDI interface above my Aurora 8. Would Like to know which side
of the interface generates the least heat? I don't know if that's a dumb question, but I can't operate the interface at this time as I am rebuilding my rack. Edited by throbert - December/03/2017 at 3:50pm |

Hi. The entire chassis and front panel act as the heat sink. If a space above and below is not possible, leave a space above (if that is possible) to give the vents some breathing room.

Yes, I did read your question: "Would Like to know which side of the interface generates the least heat?"
My point is that the heat is dissipated through the entire chassis and front panel. Therefore there really is no "side" that generates less heat. Heat is created mostly by the A/D chips and they run pretty much across the front of the entire unit. The left side of the Aurora (looking at the front) has the power supply so if I was forced to make a choice, I would say the right side MAY have less heat. But it is not by much. |

It is sitting at the bottom of the rack, so there's about a half inch space below it.
Guess I could get the half rack extension punched with some vent holes. The MIDI interface doesn't generate any heat and will probably conduct heat away if touching the Aurora. Edited by throbert - December/05/2017 at 7:15am |
