Windows 10 Pro - Driver Issues

   Greetings,
Lately there seems to be more crashes in Windows 10 Pro x64 when attempting to "share" the Lynx audio drivers.

While using Cakewalk's Sonar Platinum, I used to be able to send the audio file out to an audio editor like iZotope's RX6 Advanced, edit the file, then return it back to Sonar.

After the last couple of Windows updates, when the file gets sent out to the editor, the editor errors with "audio driver is in use".

And when I return to Sonar, it too is locked up.

The work-around in the past was to have Sonar use the ASIO driver, but everything else Windows used the MME drivers.

That is now also broken.

I'm wondering if there is a new driver in the works that will function better after this recent Windows 10 update.

	The simplest solution is to use "rx monitor" plugin. Insert the rx monitor plug-in on your master bus in Cakewalk, and power it on when you want to go use rx. Within the rx software, select rx monitor as your asio driver. Now audio from rx outputs to your master bus in cakewalk. When you are done with rx, turn the rx monitor plug in off to hear audio from cakewalk as usual. I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but I think it's better than the answer to your question.

	We are working on an ASIO-multi-client driver, but in the meantime, there is no reason at a driver level that it would work any differently now then it did before. You may want to try and use some other audio device as the Windows default and see if that makes a difference. Something is not releasing the driver, processes that use the default are a typical suspect. Also, make sure that system sounds for Windows is set to "no sounds"

	Disable auto driver updates and update your own. Method depends on your build.
