Topic: Routing USB in v.8 Posted: August/05/2017 at 6:07pm |
I am flummoxed by trying to get USB routing straight in version 8 of the Hilo firmware. I'm pretty sure I did something like this in the older firmware.
I want USB 1-2 to be routed to Line Out and 3-4 to be routed to Monitor Out. But when I turn off 3-4 for Line Out, it turns it off for Monitor Out, also. If I bring it back for Monitor Out, it turns on for Line Out as well. At least, that's what I think is happening. I am finding the various USB buttons pretty confusing, despite reading the instructions.
Maybe I am just having a bad day, but I'd appreciate some help with this!

Hmmm.... this seems to be working, after all. I installed Hilo Remote, and it shows the signals routed as desired. I believe there may be a quirk with colors not always updating or displaying properly for USB channels in the version 8 routing screen. Either that, or it's just hard to interpret.

Hi Mike,
Just to make sure, were you doing this routing in the "Routing" page, or the "Monitor" page on the hilo?
The Monitor page is studio controller functionality, that is one source to one destination type routing. The Routing page would be the appropriate place to set up a configuration like you describe.
Let me know if you could still use a hand with that.

Thanks, Paul. I was using the Routing page.
Would someone at Lynx please try what I described? It is easy enough through the remote program running on my PC, but when I do it on the routing screen itself, I sometimes see green (where I am expecting red) for USB channels not being used for a particular routing. If you can replicate my experience, this would be something to tweak next time the firmware gets a maintenance update.

I'm wondering if Lynx has had a chance to look at this. If you can replicate it (which I think you would), it should be an easy fix in the next maintenance firmware update.

I cannot seem to replicate what you were describing. When you select USB play devices 3 and above, you have to make sure and hit the left arrow at the top to close Play device selection screen, then choose the next output you wish to set. If you don't do that, then the USB play device you selected will get assigned to the next output you select on the right. Does that make sense?
