Hi,
I have been using the Lynx Aurora converters for years and have stepped through the various interfacing formats...LT-ADAT, AES16, AES16e and LT-USB which is what currently use with a Aurora 16. These days, however, I need more DA for summing and am thinking about adding more IO. Am looking at the LT-TB as upgrade option seeing how you can chain Aurora's together. But then there are the PCI cards. Which would you say is a faster more stable system, 2 x Aurora 16's connected through a.) 2 x AES16e's or b.) chained through LT-TB. I use windows 7. Thanks! Tim

Hi Tim,
Stability-wise, they are both rock solid. AES is sliiiiightly faster than Thunderbolt BUT with our latest firmware and drivers, both achieve sub-1 ms of roundtrip latency at 96K, so the difference is really academic. Cable-dressing-wise, Thunderbolt is nice and clean with that thin cable. If you go with two AES16e cards, you would also want to use a CBL-ICC clock cable between the two cards. If you go with Thunderbolt, a BNC between the Auroras for word clock would be needed. You mention Windows 7. What Thunderbolt computer are you using? Just curious... Hey Mike,
Thanks for the response and the great information. For sure the minimal cabling is BIG plus. Yes, I am using Windows 7 and should I go with the LT-TB I would upgrade to the new Gigabyte 7 motherboard which boasts thunderbolt support ( to my knowledge ). This may be incorrect? Thanks Man!!! Tim
