I have my Aurora connected to a switchable power conditioner.

Is cutting power to the unit while it is powered on detrimental?

Really asking, which is best:

Turn off Aurora -> cut power to unit

OR

Cut power to unit

It is fine to do that as long as you have not made any routing or other changes to Aurora, as cutting power to the unit that way will not save the changes.

If you make any changes, power cycle one time with front panel power button then you can use your master AC switch with no issues.
