I have the aes16 pci card in my music server.  2.0.19g build and firmware is version 26.  When I start the server the play outputs can have as many as 8317 dropouts recorded. It resets when I play a file and seems  to do better for a period of time.  I also get intermittent static and the sound can be like it  is playing half speed.

I have searched the documents and forums and the internet for possible causes to no avail.  If anyone has suggestions on what to do I would be very grateful.

What operating system?

What motherboard are you using? (Please give exact make and model)

What software are you using for playback?
Thank you,

See if you get some performance benefit from the following steps:

* Disabling CPU Speedstep in the Bios (sometimes labelled as EIST)
* Disabling C States (sometimes split out as C1, C3, C6) in the Bios
* setting the Power Profile in Windows Control panel to "hi performance"
