Hi!
I've got a
problem with my Lynx Aurora AES16e.A clicking
type noise appears when recording. It sounds a little like the mouth noise on a
heavily compressed vocal track, or the surface noise on an LP.
(I have
eliminated the mic's, preamps and speakers as the problem source. I have also
recently changed computer, and as the problem didn't go away, I'm finding it
unlikely that the problem lies there.)
It seems
like the noise is generated by the transients of a sound source, e.g. when I
hit a glockenspiel the noise appears pretty quickly after the hit, but there
are no more clicks as the sound dies out. (Don't know if it's important, but
the distance between the hit and the click doesn't change as I
increase/decrease the sample rate.)
I'm using
ProTools 10 on a Mac running OS X 10.9.2. All the software on my computer has
been recently updated, ProTools too. I have restored the card to factory
defaults, by pressing the Sample Rate button while connecting the power cord.
I have also
tried to update the firmware, but haven't yet succeeded. I've downloaded the AES16
OS X firmware updater that "updates
the AES16e firmware to version 13.0. Updates the LT-TB firmware to version
5.5." But as I try to open it I get this message: "Unable to properly read the Lynx TWO/L22/AES16 Device ID!"
Because of this I haven't been able to determine the hardware revision on my
AES16e.
The Aurora
is connected to the AES16e by two CBL-AES1605 cables.
Do you have
any suggestions as to how I should proceed to in order to update the firmware?
If this
doesn't fix the problem with the clicking noise, is there anything else I could try?
Thank you,
Rune Berg
