Topic: OpenAL FLOAT32 Format Supported? Posted: May/06/2014 at 5:34am |
I'm trying to use a LYNX AES16e card for recording 24 bit quality audio.
In order to do this I'm trying use OpenAL and AL_FORMAT_STEREO_FLOAT32. However, it fails and I am forced to use AL_FORMAT_STEREO16 which is the only alternative. Is there any way I can get this working? I'm using the 2.0.21.0 drivers. If not. Is there some other API than OpenAL which I could use to capture 24 bit audio?

We have no experience with OpenAL. As far as I can tell, on Windows it only supports DirectSound and MME, not ASIO.
Our hardware does not (and you might find that almost no hardware in the industry) support FLOAT32 natively. You didn't say what OS you are using, but with Windows 7 you must use WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE (WAVEFORMATPCMEX) to be able to get anything more than 16-bit stereo. Check the link above for more information. |
