When Wasapi is run in shared mode, the input channels fail if samplerate is set to 48kHz. It works when it is set to 44.1 kHz. I have tried with input only, output only and duplex. Output only works while the other two fails. The failure happens when the input streams are initiated.

There is also strange behavior in the windows sound panel when changing the default formats on the Hilo play and rec devices. The panel freezes after the play values has been set, when I flip to the rec panel.

You might try a hard reset of the Hilo. You do this by holding down the standby button on the front, while flipping on the AC switch in the back.

Have you tried swapping the USB cable?

Have you tested input signals with ASIO?
 What is the recording application?

Hi Paul,

I am using the Hilo for testing and debugging. The recording application is Portaudio. It has issues, so I am stepping through the code. Portaudio is not off the hook, but the errors I saw was from direct calls to wasapi - and all the paramters seemed to be OK.

I will try the hard reset.

I did not find much info about wasapi support in the Hilo driver. Has it been tested for various scenarios such as full duplex in shared and exclusive mode? The problems I see is mostly related to setting up the input channels.

One more thing:
The enumeration of the upper half of Hilo playback device looks wrong in windows when Hilo is in 16 channel mode. I get a bunch of stereo options to choose from on the 9-16 channels device. These are the same options as with any two channel realtek card.

I presume you are using driver build 3.2 for the Hilo? Are you saying that in the Sound Section of Windows control panel that you are seeing multiple stereo devices rather than a Play 9-16 multi-channel device? Or are you seeing multiple stereo devices from within the output selection of your audio software?

The Hilo driver has Wasapi support and should work for full duplex and exclusive mode. However, since ASIO is used almost exclusively for Windows Audio, its not something that gets a lot of field testing.
