Hi all, recently one of my Aurora 16s with the LTHD card has been powering up with all the lights stuck on, as if I was 'identifying' it in Pro Tools. No matter which different power up button combinations I would use the 16s lights would stay all on. However when I launch PT and the interfaces are initializing the Aurora goes into 32 channel mode and all seemed fine. I did have an issue tracking vocals were the client said the cue mix back to him seemed to have a lot of delay. Restarting the interfaces, Mac and PT cured it. After shutting down PT the Aurora behaves as normal, as in power cycling it all the lights do NOT come on. However if I disconnect the power cable and power it up all the lights come back on again.
I have re-seated the LT-HD card but to no avail, the Aurora acts the same. The Aurora in question is an older version, non VT. I am not sure of the firmware but I know its behind several versions. I can check for the exact version. I was considering a firmware update but I am not sure if that would solve the problem and possibly cause more issues so I thought it might be best to ask here first.

So the problematic Aurora 16 was firmware version 18 and i updated it to 28. I updated both my units. When I turned the 16 back on all the lights were not on. All seems fine except for one thing; after turning pro tools off sometimes the sync source light will switch to LSLOT and blink. Is my LTHD card hosed? Any way to check it without having to send it in?

Hi,

Sorry, we were closed for the holiday.

Glad the issue is resolved. Please let us know if anything happens again.

You can set the Aurora Sync to INTERNAL, then power cycle the unit using the front panel switch. That will store that setting. That should make Aurora return to INT when you close Pro Tools.

If you have not, you may also want to check your firmware on the LT-HD card. Run the Updater again and select the LT-HD from the Unit to Update pulldown. The latest firmware is 11 and should be used for the HDX and HD Native cards. For older TDM systems, Version 7 is fine.

Thanks Mike, I was hoping a forum member might respond, or Tech support but it was the weekend!
I do use TDM and I will check the firmware on the LTHD cards, esp the one that was acting odd. I was not in the studio today but the 2 engineers that were said there were no issues. I will be working all day tomorrow so I will have plenty of time to check it out. I also use a UA2192  for master clock and for the main DA. I have the Auroras set to external sync. I will try your suggestion Mike, thanks!!

updating my LTHD cards to version 11 won't hinder them in PT8? I see some issues on this forum. I can't find the updater for LTHD vr7, only version 10 and I searched the archives. My unit that had issues was LTHD vr5 and the other Aurora 16 is LTHD vr7.

For LTHD firmware rev 11 you need ProTools 8.1 or above.

If you have PT 8, I would recommend having firmware rev 8 on both LT-HD cards. having 5 on one and 7 on another is not so good. * is just like 7 but disables loopsync (generally this is desirable, unless you use a Sync I/O)

Here is the updater for rev 8.
Let me know if you need a hand with this.
