Topic: Lynx Aurora 16 VT LT-USB + Lynx Aurora 16 w/AES16e Posted: October/07/2015 at 8:50am |
Hi I've two gorgeous Aurora 16 (one VT). On the first Aurora I've LT-USB, the other the AES16e. How can I connect the two?

There is no way to combine the LT-USB and the AES16e into a single ASIO driver since they use completely different technology and have vastly different latencies.
Your best option would be to get a second AES16e to connect up the second Aurora 16.

Both AES16e cards would appear in the same mixer application. The only limitation is you cannot cross inputs and outputs from one card to another with hardware monitoring. You can do that with software monitoring.

Ok. Is it possible to have a zero latency monitoring with aes16e?

Yes, with the above limitation. Hardware monitoring is what 'zero latency monitoring' is.

Ok. Last question (sorry!): If I link the two Auroras via Firewire with two LT-FW for each Aurora? There are some limitations?

That would probably be the last suggestion on the list. You cannot use two LT-FW cards in the same computer and have them show up as a single ASIO device. Only the PCI & PCI Express cards (and the LT-TB) can do that.

Ok, I'll buy a second Aes16e card. I've Antelope external clock, I have to clock only the two Aurora connected to the two aes, right? Not also the aes16e.

A master clock isn't neccesary but you can use one if you wish.
Without a master clock, you could clock one of these ways:
1. Aurora #1 on "INT". Aurora #2 on "EXT", and a wordclock cable connecting wordclock Out from #1, to wordclock in on #2. Both AES16e's set to "Digital In 1" 2. AES16e #1 on "Internal" and AES16e #2 on "header". Our ICC internal clock cable would connect from the Clock Out of #1 to Clock In of #2. Both Auroras' SYNC SOURCE set to "AES A"
If you use a master clock, you would connect wordclock out to each of the Auroras. Set the Auroras to "EXT" and the AES16e cards to "Digital In 1"

Green. It means the product is RoHS compliant. No Lead.

Aurora Remote Control will show you the serial number and the type of each Aurora connected. If it is a /VT or /1824, it will show you in About Aurora Remote Control.

Thank you, David. So now I have two Lynx Aurora 16 (VT and 1824) connected via aes16e, but I was thinking to buy also Lynx Hilo to have an hi res monitoring reference (I've two pair of monitor) and hi res phones reference. Is it possible to connect both Auroras and Hilo and create a unique mixer in a unique asio instance? I use Reaper on Windows 7. If yes, how can I could connect the Hilo to my analog console (Soundcraft TS12 with EDAC connections) and finally have a good monitor reference?

The AES16e cards and Hilo use different ASIO drivers, and there is no way to use different ASIO drivers with a single app in Windows.
You could take one of the AES outputs that not goes to an Aurora and use that for a Hilo instead. It would require some cable changes.
Or, if you can find a used LS-ADAT card (they are discontinued), you could connect that to one of your AES16e cards and connect to the Hilo via ADAT Lightpipe.
