Topic: Lynx Aurora 16/ LT-Madi/Dangerous bus 2/monitoring Posted: April/04/2015 at 8:13am |
Hi guys this is my first post as I am considering buying my first Aurora 16.
We are setting up a new studio , my partener already owns an SSL Madi card and my idea was buying an Aurora 16 and and Lynx LT-Madi card. From that card connect the Aurora to the SSL PCIe card. Is that possible?
My other question is I want to buy a Dangerous music 2-Bus as summing mixer device. I've been in touch with Dangerous and the said in order to monitor my DAW signal ( master channel from pro tools) I'll have to buy a monitor device like the Dnagerous Source or D box and connect 2 of the optical channels from the Lynx to this monitor control in order to monitor from the DAW. That means I am gonna use 2 digital outputs from the Lynx for monitoring. Is it possible to connect my Lynx through LT-Madi to the SSL and then use the digital ports with a D sub 25-Aes/EBU and use digital outputs 1-2 to monitor at the same time?
Sorry guys is a bit confusing I know.
Many thanks
Jose

Jose,
Yes, the Aurora MADI should work with the SSL MADI card. And you can use the analog and digital ports when connected via MADI, so you should be able to take a digital out from the Aurora as the monitor return into the D-Box. I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work. |

Thanks Paul that's great!
So in this case I can use my full 16 analogue channels to mix while I use 2 digital for monitoring. I wasn't sure if my mac would recognise aurora through the SSL Madi card.
Thanks a lot for the info

You just need to run the Aurora in 32 channel mode. See section 7.2 of the LT-MADI manual for the whys and hows
