Yes, connected as described the Aurora would be a clock slave to your other converter. If Synchrolock is engaged, then the effect should be nominal, since Aurora is still referring to its own crystal.

Great thanks Paul!

So with that set like you said and I have tried.. the Aurora IS using my other converters clock? Perhaps it's not worth it, it is a very high end peice, only I have read elsewhere like you say that depending on wiring and the chain one can develop more jitter than is worth the 'round trip'...

The way you describe is the way to do it: AES16e on Digital In and Aurora on AES A.
Its not ideal, because the Aurora is getting second generation clock, but keeping Synchrolock ON should help with that.

If it seems buggy, it might have more to do with the clock source or cables then the clocking method. An AD without a wordclock Out clearly wasn't designed to be a clock master. Just a thought.

Hi Lynx,

I have a situation at home where I am running an Aurora 16 with AES16e card.. I also have a high end Stereo AD/DA that is using 2 of of the 16 digital channels on the AES card. This is connected to port A of the card using channels 1 + 2 (of 16 AD+DA).
I would like to use the Stereo coverter's internal clock for the Aurora's conversion.. however... this stereo converter does not have word clock outputs or inputs. All its transmission is done via the AES lines..
Is it possible to slave the Aurora to it by some other means?? Or perhaps there is a setting on the AES16e card that allows this? At the moment I have tried using digital in 1 which uses the stereo converters clock, and set the Aurora to 'AES A', and it does actually work, however sometimes not this has been a bit buggy and the Aurora may just be using the AES cards clock or something.. i dunno!!

Many thanks for reading!   Dave
