Although we have not used the OWC chassis, the AES16e does not produce much heat.  In my Magma single slot chassis I was able to shut the fan off completely without issue.

I have heard around some forums that the AES16 PCIe card does not need the loud fan turned on. It doesn't produce enough heat to require cooling.

Is this true? Can I unplug the fan and quite down my studio?

Other alternative is to get a longer set of cables for my speakers and move my whole computer rig into the closet.

Any thoughts from the pros (or the horses mouth )?
