Topic: Aurora Firmware Update LT-TB Posted: May/25/2014 at 10:27pm |
When using the LT-HD, you must disconnect the DigiLink cable and connect up a MIDI interface from the Aurora to the computer.

Apart from the Analog i/o the only connections I have running to or from my 2 Aurora 16's are the digilink cable (running to and HDX card in a Magma chassis) and the clock inputs. When I try to run a firmware update i get a message saying that no Aurora can be found. How do I get the computer to see the auroras so I can update them?

Yes, it seems to be working. More tests tonight or soon. (My audio cables just arrived... thought I had them but I didn't...) Thanks for all the help, both here and via email!

OK, so you were able to successfully update the Aurora to firmware rev 28? If so, you should be good to go...

Hey, I think it worked! Hooking my Aurora up to my new computer now and it seems to be recognized and updated. Going to plug in some stuff and see if it works properly, but I'm expecting it to work.

I've been reading a bunch of stuff and now I have MORE questions... It seems it make sense for me to tell you what I'm doing so you might have a better idea how to assist me.
I bought a Lynx Aurora 16 with an HD card installed. I also bought a Thunderbolt card for the Lynx and installed it semi successfully. I'm connected to a MAC Mini Server.
The Aurora has firmware version 23. I need to update that firmware. It seems MIDI is my only option.
What steps do I need to take and in what order? Some of what I've been reading makes me think I may need to install one set of drivers so I can do the firmware upgrade, but then I might need to delete those drivers and reinstall new ones after the firmware upgrade...?
Obviously, this is all confusing to me and I apologize if the questions are dumb...

Also, what drivers am I supposed to make sure are installed?
"A) Make sure that the drivers are properly installed for the MIDI device connected to the Mac."
In my case, is this just saying that I'm supposed to make sure the DIGI002's drivers are installed... which they are...?
Thanks again.

Hi there.
I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade the firmware in an Aurora via MIDI. What kind of MIDI interface does the Aurora need to be plugged into? The only thing I have that has MIDI is my DIGI002, the unit that's being replaced by the Auroras. Can the 002 be used as a MIDI interface? If not, what's an appropriate device?
Thanks!

pbl, There should be no problem using the LTFW to update the Aurora firmware. There is no driver required for OSX. Just connecting the firewire cable to the Mac would activate the driver support. Then running the latest Aurora Update program on our website would update the Aurora to 28.
Otherwise, you could use a MIDI interface, connect MIDI In to Aurora's MIDI Out and vice versa, then run the updater. Make sure the Thunderbolt cable is disconnected when this is attempted.

Hi guys,
After breaking a crappy apple FW-TB conversor(which….never worked really well), I finally did replace the LT-FW i had installed on my Aurora 16 for the LT-TB :)
Papers included says it should be working under 2.8 firmware version on the Aurora, but i have 2.4 so i tried updating the unit firmware on a win computer before installing the LT-TB….. but as the LT-FW is discontinued, the Windows firmware updater i found seems as old as the version i had running…..(there was no way to connect the LT-FW to the imac)
I installed the LT-TB(successfully looks, green leds ;) ) and thought i could run the macosx firmware updater for the LT-TB to update the aurora to 2.8, but it only updated the LT-TB not the aurora.
On the other hand …..everything´s running looks pretty stable without any issues tilt the moment.

What´s the procedure to update Aurora firmware under MacOx and the LT-TB expansion??
Kind Regardds pbl
