New firmware revisions for the Aurora frequently add key combinations to enable new features and options. These are documented in the Aurora firmware release notes.

However, there has been a request for a cohesive list of these combinations, so here they are:

* Press METER switch for 500ms: enables horizontal metering mode

* Press SYNC SOURCE switch for 500ms: Turns Synchrolock On or Off

* Press TO ANALOG OUT switch for 500ms: Toggles between 16 or 32 channel mode when used with LT-HD

* Press TRIM while turning on STANDBY/POWER switch: Displays firmware revision in the meter display (combine rapidly flashing number from input and output row)

* Press STANDBY/POWER switch while AC power is applied: Toggles power up mode between Standby and On

* Press SAMPLE RATE switch while applying AC power: Restore factory defaults

There is no indication of the current mode other than from ProTools HD software.

Jeff,

FWIW, the next incarnation of Aurora Remote will reveal the LT-HD mode, 16 or 32-channel.

The Aurora 16 with HD card just arrived. . . this is my first beef. There really should be an indicator of 16 or 32 i/o mode, even if it is just something in the way the lights flash.

My second problem with the Aurora 16 is the allocation of I/O when in 32 channel mode. I hope it is just the way i have set it up. The Aurora really should be able to be setup with all the Analog ports on #1 virtual 192, and all the AES ports on #2 virtual 192. It is not very intuitive with 8 Analog and 8 Digital on each 192, and messes things up. I really hope it is my lack of familarity, and I missed something in the manual, or the unit is probably going back. What did I miss?

My 3rd issue is the manual says an empty rack space below and above. Your kidding! I understand above, but below. Really? I need new racks to replace 192 i/os with Aurora's.

and issue #4 is: Only up to 12ft Digilink cables. . . this again means it does not fit into my existing situation. Is this really a problem at all, or is someone being real conservative. . . that is not long enough. . . many studios have the computers off in a machine room with the interfaces in the control room. 12 ft is really not an acceptable limit. Is it real?

. . .  and I just got started. Maybe it is just my frame of mind that is the problem, so I am calling it a day. Insight welcome. Thanks!

Hi howardk,

Thank you for your purchase!

The Aurora is set up to emulate a 192. That is the reason the routing is the way it is. We wanted to give 192 users consistency and familiarity.

You are gaining rack spaces by going from 192s to Auroras. Wink  While a space above and below is "perfect world" we realize it is not always possible and have had zero heat related failures.

The manual had older info, sorry.  The latest Aurora firmware supports up to 50' of Digilink cable.

The current channel mode (16/32) is displayed in the Aurora Remote Control on the Analog Page.  This does mean you must have a MIDI connection between the Aurora and your computer.
